Medford Area school board re-elects president, elects new vice president and fills officer posts

The Medford Area Public School District Board of Education re-elected Dave Fleegel as board president and elected Don Everhard as vice president at its regular meeting April 27, 2026.
Fleegel was nominated for president, nominations were closed and a unanimous ballot was cast to re-elect him. The vice president race was decided by secret ballot: Don Everhard received five votes to John Zuleger’s four and was elected vice president. Steve Deml was selected as clerk and Brian Hallgren as treasurer by unanimous ballots. The board also appointed John Zuleger as the Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) delegate and Aemus Balsis as the alternate, and kept Fleegel and Everhard as the Cooperative Educational Service Agency (CESA) representative and alternate.
President Dave Fleegel presided over the organizational business and said he will distribute committee assignments when they are complete. The board completed routine organizational steps including designating official depositories (Abby Bank, Nicolet National Bank, Forward Financial, Associated Bank, WISC and Mid America) and naming Star News as the official newspaper.
The board’s organizational decisions set leadership and representation for the coming year; the board did not take remaining substantive actions during this portion of the meeting.
