Sheriff Beavers asked the court to accept a donation from Elder Chrysler Dodge: a wrapped vehicle valued at $3,199.50 to be used for recruiting and outreach. The court approved accepting the donation by voice vote.
County staff briefed the court on a proposed participation in the state homeland-security grant program to replace end-of-life equipment in the county Emergency Operations Center (EOC) support trailer. Staff said prior awards varied (they reported last year’s award was $15,000 and that awards can range up to about $37,500); the court authorized submitting the application.
Road and bridge staff (Miss Lorena) recommended advertising a solicitation to repair erosion under a bridge on County Road 4036 in Precinct 4 (advertisement slated for March 28 with an award to return to court on April 28). The court approved advertising the solicitation.
The court approved a purchase of Chevrolet trucks (04/2026 model) for Precinct 3 under the TIPS contract at a purchase price the presenter listed as $240,000; staff said the trucks meet specifications and procurement requirements and that leased trucks would be retired.
The court also approved reclassifying a road-and-bridge position from class 2 to class 1 in Precinct 1, an item the presenter described as saving about $34,000, and approved routine line-item transfers, budget amendments and claims for payment (accounts payable and payroll).
