Kaufman County Judge JK Allen read a proclamation at the March 24 commissioners court meeting declaring April 2026 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Kaufman County and urged residents to support prevention efforts.
Officials and volunteers from several local child-welfare organizations attended the reading. A representative who identified herself as the vice president of the county Child Welfare Board thanked the court for its support and listed local partner organizations, including the Kaufman County Department of Family and Protective Services, Kaufman County Children's Advocacy Center, Kaufman County Child Welfare Board, Lone Star CASA, REACH Child Placing Agency, AFR Norville Shelter Foundation and Backers Against Child Abuse.
Judge Allen read the proclamation aloud and closed by saying, "Therefore, I, JK Allen, Kaufman County Judge, do hereby proclaim April 2026 to be Child Abuse Prevention Month in Kaufman County and urge the appropriate recognition thereof." The court approved the proclamation and participants gathered for a photo following the reading.
