Kaufman County Commissioners approve plats, procurement awards and personnel reclassification

Kaufman County Commissioners Court approved a slate of routine but consequential items at its February regular meeting, including two final plats, multiple procurement actions and a personnel reclassification.
The court accepted minutes and routine correspondence, approved reappointments to the county Child Welfare Board, and heard reports from constables and the county treasurer. Constable Woodall reported "0 complaints" arising from his reviewed traffic stops, and the Precinct 2 constable likewise reported no complaints. Treasurer Chuck told the court tax payments were up in January and that Fund 10 and invested balances had improved.
In land-use business the court approved the final plat for BNP Estates (about 3 acres split into two lots on FM 2429 in Precinct 1) and approved the final plat for the DTA addition (a roughly 1.5-acre lot from a 101-acre parent tract on FM 2728). Both plat presentations stated that required documentation and prior approvals were on file.
On procurement the court approved a sole-source purchase of alert-level kits for the sheriff’s office from KDL Solutions after staff presented an exclusivity letter and a drafted court order. The court also authorized moving forward with contract negotiations for RFP 2025-014 (door controls and intercom upgrades); staff said three responses were scored and APIC Solutions scored highest.
The court approved an interlocal agreement between Precinct 1 Road & Bridge and the city of Oak Grove for repairs to County Road 158; Oak Grove will contribute $3,500 for patching. The treasurer and auditor presented weekly accounts payable and payroll items for payment, and the court approved routine line-item transfers and budget amendments as presented.
Auditor staff asked the court to approve reclassifying an accounts-payable clerk from Clerk II to Clerk III as part of a department restructure resulting from a retirement; the auditor said "no individual person will be receiving a pay raise, and it will be saving the county money." The court approved the reclassification.
A request from the city of Forney to amend the Kaufman County thoroughfare map was held; the city’s representative had not arrived and the court tabled the item for a future meeting.
