Kaufman County accepts sheriff's annual profiling and quarterly activity reports

Sheriff Beavers presented the sheriff's annual traffic/contact profiling report and the office's quarterly activity summary, and the Kaufman County Commissioners Court approved both reports by voice vote.
Beavers said the department recorded about "4,989 stops" in the year covered by the profiling report and achieved 99.66% compliance in reporting all contacts. He told the court contacts increased about 29% from the prior year while searches fell by about 2.4%. "We show no issues... We have 0 complaints of racial profiling for last year," Beavers said.
On the quarterly report, Beavers summarized incident and investigative activity: the office handled 10,138 incident reports, forwarded 5,233 to CID, cleared roughly 1,500 cases, and reported what he described as a record recovery of stolen property valued at $5,286,000. He said overall crime was down 18.1% compared with the previous year and noted efforts with patrol and CID amid population growth.
Commissioners asked few questions and praised the office's work. A motion to accept the profiling report and the quarterly report passed by voice vote.
Next steps: the accepted reports will remain part of the county record; no additional action was directed during the meeting.
