Williamson County Commissioners Court on April 28 approved goods contract 2026192 with Motorola Solutions Inc. for the purchase of mobile and handheld radios for the Sheriff’s Department in the amount of $4,332,621.62, authorizing execution pursuant to the DIR cooperative contract. Commissioners noted the purchase is budgeted and represents one portion of a planned multi-phase acquisition; the motion carried 5-0.
During discussion a commissioner observed the size of the purchase and that costs are significant. Facilities staff confirmed the item was budgeted. The court proceeded with a standard motion and voice vote recorded as carried.
Next steps: staff will finalize contract execution and coordinate delivery and deployment of the radios with the Sheriff’s Department and relevant county technology teams.
