Commissioners appoint Deanna Struthers as Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1

The Johnson County Commissioners Court voted unanimously Dec. 22 to appoint Deanna Struthers to fill the unexpired term as Justice of the Peace for Precinct 1 under order number 2025-119.
A motion to appoint Struthers was made immediately after the court returned from executive session; the motion carried unanimously. The County Judge said the county will coordinate oath, bond and statement of officer paperwork so Struthers can be sworn in on Jan. 1 to begin her term. The court noted appreciation that Struthers agreed to serve and observed that the court generally avoids influencing pending elections by appointing candidates who are running.
