Tax office reports rise in collections and court approves resale of struck-off properties

Presenters described outreach steps — mailings, phone contacts, door knocks, text messages — and said the office seeks payment plans before tax sales.
The tax office also asked the court to approve a resolution to place 13 struck-off properties on a resale auction scheduled for May 5, 2026. County counsel and tax staff said none of the 13 properties are designated homesteads. The court approved the resale resolution and separately approved private bids for specific cause numbers where a single qualified bid satisfied full recovery of taxes, costs and post-judgment taxes.
Tax office staff said the collection program seeks to prioritize non-homestead and abandoned properties, and that many delinquent accounts are resolved through payment plans before sale. County commissioners approved the requested resolutions and authorized staff to execute resale deeds on receipt of full payment where private bids were accepted.
