Elections office reports higher early-voting turnout ahead of joint primary

Hidalgo County elections staff told the commissioners court on March 3 that early voting turnout this cycle surpassed recent years and that election-day voting was underway at 58 polling locations.
Hilda Salina, presenting agenda item 102565, said 61,504 people cast ballots during early voting — about 13.51% of registered voters for that period — and that 4,591 people had voted in person on election day as of her report. She supplied a ranking of high-turnout polling places and provided the county elections website for polling-location and sample-ballot information.
Salina said the county expects additional turnout throughout the day and reminded residents that polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The court offered well-wishes to elections staff and thanked them for managing the joint primary day operations.
