Grayson County court approves city-led courthouse lighting, adds DA discovery clerk funded by SB 22, and accepts Julian Drive

Bills and payments: The court authorized payment of $299,197.40 to the Grayson Central Appraisal District for second-quarter 2026 appraisal services, $1,060,210.44 to the city of Denison for 2025 related combination payments, and $1,095,849.17 to Sidalco for January 2026 services on the Veil expansion project. The motion to pay bills was moved and seconded and carried unanimously.
City of Sherman courthouse lighting: Wes Trisler, executive director of operations for the city of Sherman, asked the court to allow the city to install new black light poles with LED fixtures, two posts with video/LED displays and Bluetooth speakers around the courthouse square. Trisler said the project "will be 100% covered by the city" and that the anticipated completion time is about "130 days." With county approval, the city plans to put the project out to bid. Commissioners voted to permit the city to proceed to bid and move the project forward.
District attorney staffing: The court approved an amendment to the FY 2026 salary order for the district attorney's office to add a discovery clerk. The transcript indicates the position will be funded through SB 22 with no county budget change and is expected to be made permanent in the next budget year. Commissioners moved and passed the amendment unanimously.
Road acceptance and plats: County staff reported that the Julian Drive development has completed the conditions required since its final plat approval; the court accepted Julian Drive as a county-maintained road in Precinct 1 and established a 20 mph speed limit there. The court also approved the Short Platte Plunkett, Cedar Road Addition Phase 7 (1.083 acres to subdivide one lot) and the Short Platte Henderson Addition (2.824 acres to subdivide one lot). Motions on those items passed without recorded opposition.
Executive session and adjournment: The court entered executive session under Texas Government Code Sec. 551.071 to consult with an attorney at 10:22 a.m., returned at 10:42 a.m., and announced there was no action to be taken following the closed session. The court then adjourned.
