Grayson County commissioners approve contract extension, large payment and courthouse security upgrades

Grayson County Commissioners Court on March 24 approved a series of routine and substantive actions, including a contract amendment with the Texas Department of State Health Services, a six-figure vendor payment and security camera upgrades for county justice courthouses.
The court authorized payment of bills for March 24, 2026, and specifically approved $1,329,393.96 to Sidalco for February 2026 services on a veil expansion project. The payment was approved by voice vote after the consent agenda was adopted; a motion to approve the consent items was moved and seconded by commissioners and carried without recorded roll call.
The court also approved Amendment No. 5 to the county’s Department of State Health Services Public Health Emergency Preparedness Contract, extending the contract term to June 30, 2027. A county presenter described additional funding for fiscal 2027 and told the court that a portion of the increase would be federal. The transcript contains inconsistent figures for the total additional funding (see audit); county staff did not read a single unambiguous total during the meeting.
County justices’ court security funds were tapped for camera upgrades at two subcourthouses. The court approved $10,305.26 for security enhancements at the Whitesboro subcourthouse (JP 3) and approved security work at the Van Alstyne subcourthouse, including two lobby cameras and one additional courtroom camera for a motioned total of $8,422.67. County staff said available court security funds cover both projects.
The court approved an interlocal agreement with the City of Pottsboro to accept tree limb and brush collection from Pottsboro residents and granted final plat approval for Eastwell Farms Phase 1 in Precinct 3, allowing the development to be recorded in Grayson County records.

The court recessed into executive session under Texas Government Code §551.071 to consult with counsel and returned without taking additional action, then adjourned at 10:36 a.m.
