Grayson County accepts America250 flag; historical commission outlines preservation work

Williams summarized recent and ongoing projects: placing historical markers, planning a dedication ceremony for a Woodlake marker in Denison, registering and protecting a Whitesboro cemetery that had faced proposed development, and piloting a digital downtown history tour (a GPS-enabled digital guide currently in testing in Van Alstyne, with Denison showing interest). He asked the court to display an outside flagpole-mounted America250 flag in the county’s public space.
Commissioners thanked Williams and the commission for volunteer hours and preservation work. The court gave a unanimous reception to the presentation and the proclamation.
What’s next: commissioners will coordinate with county facilities staff on placement of an exterior flag pole and the historical commission’s request; the commission expects to finalize dedication dates and expand the digital tour to other towns if pilot results are favorable.
