Grayson County court approves payments, updates appraisal-district agreement and appoints commissioner to policy committee

The Grayson County Commissioners Court met Jan. 6 and approved routine financial and administrative items, including a payment package and updates to a long-standing interlocal agreement with the Grayson County Appraisal District.

The court authorized payment of bills for Jan. 6, 2026, and specifically approved $64,974.65 to the Health Department LPPF to be passed through to the State Comptroller for a graduated medical education program in FY 2026, a judge announced during the meeting. The consent agenda and the bills were approved by voice vote.

A county staff member said the interlocal agreement with the Grayson County Appraisal District has been in place for many years and that the district requested additional user accounts to access county records. "We've updated their contract. The fee did increase a little bit, and then we've updated their users," the staff member said, characterizing the item as an update rather than a new service. The court authorized the county judge to sign the updated agreement by voice vote.

The court also appointed Commissioner Lindsay Wright to the Texas Conference of Urban Counties Policy Committee; the motion to approve the resolution for the appointment was adopted by voice vote.

During commissioner comments, one commissioner warned residents to be cautious about open burning because conditions remain dry and noted a Pottsboro Library workshop on communication skills scheduled for Feb. 7. The presiding judge also reported that his desk had been vandalized with a sports score and said he would call on the sheriff's department to investigate.

The court recessed into executive session under Texas Government Code §551.071 to consult with the county attorney and returned at 10:24 a.m. The judge said there was "nothing to take action on" stemming from that executive session, and the court adjourned at 10:24 a.m.
