Colorado Senate receives committee reports, introduces bills and lays over SJR25

The Clerk introduced Senator Joint Resolution 25, described on the floor as a measure by Senator Simpson and Representative McCluskey recognizing the 150th anniversary of the Colorado Mining Association. Majority Leader Exum moved to lay SJR25 over until Monday, May 4, 2026, saying, “I move that SJR25 layover until Monday, 05/04/2026.” The presiding officer called for a voice vote; the ayes were recorded and the motion carried.
The floor also heard introductions of several House bills and their committee referrals: House Bill 1225 (by Representative Smith and Wilford and Senators Bolingbright) concerning requirements to foster distributed energy resources (referred to Transportation and Energy); House Bill 1236 (Zakai, Mabry, Ball, Hendrickson) concerning arbitration reform (Judiciary); House Bill 1281 (Carter, Espinosa, Weisman, Hendrickson) concerning alignment of criminal offenses involving death (Judiciary); House Bill 1306 (Duran, Soukla, Senator Kipp) to create a wild horse specialty license plate and related appropriations (Finance); and House Bill 1341 (Johnson, Senator Peltner) concerning modification to the service period for allocations by the Colorado Agricultural Development Authority (Finance).
The Clerk announced that the President had signed House Bill 1410. Majority Leader Exum then moved that the Senate adjourn until 9 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2026; the presiding officer put the motion and a voice vote recorded the ayes, and the Senate adjourned.
