Hospital leaders warn street connections in Great Seneca plan could constrain future expansion

He said the campus master plan calls for combining certain support systems and consolidating three hospital structures into a more connected facility, and warned that the plan’s recommended East‑West vehicular and pedestrian connections could conflict with future hospital growth.
Cochran said the medical center supports connections that are immediately feasible and aligned with critical hospital functions and submitted maps illustrating conflicts between the plan’s recommended alignments and anticipated hospital expansion areas. Patricia Harris of ProMark Partners also warned that proposed parallel bike trails could preclude hospital expansion onto adjacent property.
The hospital’s testimony asks the county to consider connection locations that accommodate both the plan’s desire for manageable block sizes and the medical center’s operational and growth imperatives. Council committee review will provide the opportunity to examine map details and proposed corridor locations in the context of submitted hospital maps and written testimony.
