Pacific City Council approves state grants, contracts and two ordinances; schedules levy-lid retreat

The Pacific City Council on Jan. 27 approved several funding and procurement actions, adopted two ordinances affecting parks and public camping, and set a retreat to discuss a proposed levy lid lift.

Mayor Kave called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and recognized staff and council attendance before the meeting moved through presentations and routine business. Mayor Kave presented Tarra Mannie with the Employee of the Year award and Sergeant Tanner Knutsen as Police Officer of the Year for 2024, and administered oaths of office to Lieutenant Terry Carter, Sergeant Tanner Knutsen and Officer Shannon O'Rourke.

In formal action, the council approved a grant contract with the Washington State Department of Commerce for $249,375.10 to support the State Crisis Intervention Program for the secure storage, tracking and return of relinquished firearms. Council Member Boles moved the measure and the roll call vote was recorded as seven ayes, motion carried 7-0.
