Lewis County seeks approval for updated jail mental-health contract with Cascade Mental Health

Lewis County commissioners on April 28 were asked to approve an updated contract with Cascade Mental Health to continue providing behavioral-health services at the county jail.
Chief Chris Wey of the Lewis County Sheriff's Office told the board that Cascade "has provided service to Lewis County Jail for, approximately 15 years now," and that the proposed agreement is an update to a contract that "hasn't been updated since 2017." Wey said the amendment includes a cost-of-living adjustment and additions such as an on-call program for mental-health counselors to come into the facility on weekends, as well as adjustments to cover increased operating costs. "So I'm, asking the board to approve this contract," Wey said.
Wey framed the changes as necessary to maintain continuity of care for people in custody and to reflect price increases Cascade says are needed to operate the program. The presentation did not include dollar totals in the public remarks; the board approved the resolution as part of deliberation items later in the meeting.
The board voted to approve resolution 26-136 by voice vote, recorded as "Aye, Aye, Aye," and the chair declared the motion carried 3-0.
