Jerome Brown Playground rebuild money set aside, but land-transfer issue stalls work, resident says

A resident and representative for Jerome Brown Playground told council staff the playground—listed on the city's rebuild list—has not seen promised work despite a council appropriation.
"We were on number 4 on the rebuild list in 2018, and we're trying to figure out why we have no longer been..." said Linda Stevens Whiteside, who identified herself as representing Jerome Brown Playground. She said Councilmember Cindy Bass helped secure about $7,300,000 for Jerome Brown but that no action has followed and asked what steps are needed to move the project forward.
Council staff acknowledged the allocation and said there was an issue with a land transfer that was discussed with the Capital Budget Office; they promised to reach out to the speaker and to continue due diligence. The council president and staff expressed support and said they would pursue a meeting and a staff follow-up to clarify the land-transfer constraint.
No construction start date or new funding change was announced at the town hall; staff committed to continue discussions and follow up the next day.
