Commissioners discussed line items and several attachments, noting a figure in the packet of about $1.5 million for the work and that roughly $200,000 had been paid earlier for the bridge structure. “We’ve already paid the 200 and some for the bridge structure,” one commissioner said during the review.
The contractor plans to begin demolition of the existing bridge in early August with an expected sequence of operations outlined in the preconstruction documents. The board moved to sign the notice to proceed and approved it by voice vote; the clerk confirmed three executed copies would be held for county records and that inspectors/RPRs would pick up their copies as needed.
Commissioners flagged ancillary items for follow up, including guardrail and approach work, surfacing (aggregate base vs. concrete deck) and payment accounting for prior bridge structure costs.
Next steps: staff will file the executed notice to proceed and monitor the contractor’s preconstruction meeting, scheduling, and any change orders for commissioner review.
