Bergeron also recommended hiring Colton Nelson, 22, for a two‑month or temporary assignment to help the crew with mowing and other tasks. The board approved hiring Nelson contingent on pre‑employment screening. “He’s staying in town, and I’d love to stick him in a moment for two months,” Bergeron said before the hiring motion passed.
The board and Bergeron also discussed routine equipment maintenance: a small pickup with transmission issues that Bergeron said can likely wait for repair until spring, and ongoing work to track hydraulic and slack‑adjuster repairs on trailers. Commissioners emphasized cost containment and monitoring usage before approving additional purchases.
Next steps: staff will arrange the pre‑employment checks for Colton Nelson and proceed with purchasing and installing the oil cooler for the mower.
