Peachtree Corners — The City Council presented a proclamation recognizing Mitsunobu Uchida and the US Taido Association for more than 50 years of teaching Taido, promoting cultural exchange between the U.S. and Japan, and representing the United States at international Taido competitions.
Council members noted US Taido’s long presence in the Atlanta region and in Peachtree Corners since 1987, and the proclamation highlighted Uchida’s local ties — including children who attended Norcross High School and community engagement such as homestays and school visits. The document declared the recognition effective April 2026.
Uchida thanked the council and described his focus on teaching young children. "I like the looking at the smiles and their coordination, achievement, and they're gonna be the best 1 as a citizens of the world," he said. Council members expressed appreciation for the organization’s contributions to cultural exchange and community events such as local festivals.
