Marion County approves $765,615 contract for Junction 92 exterior concrete, adopts FY27 secondary roads budget and authorizes Pella parcel survey

The Marion County Board of Supervisors on April 14 approved contract documents and awarded a construction contract for exterior concrete paving at the county's Junction 92 Road Department site and adopted the county's FY27 secondary roads budget.

At a public hearing on the Junction 92 exterior concrete project, which drew no public comment, the board approved Resolution 2026-49 granting final approval to the plans, specifications and estimated cost prepared by the county engineer. The board then awarded the contract by approving Resolution 2026-50 and awarding the project to TK Concrete, Inc. of Pella. The low base bid was $665,253.00 and a Bid Alternate of $100,362.00 yielded a total award of $765,615.00.

Also on the agenda, the board adopted Resolution 2026-47, the Marion County Secondary Road FY27 budget required annually by the Iowa Department of Transportation; the resolution states the budget lists projected receipts and expenditures and is based on the County Engineer's estimates.

Separately, the board authorized a survey and parcel designation for the Road Department shop property at 108 S Clark St., Pella, after staff said the parcel lacks a clean legal description because it was acquired in phases. The county auditor's office received an estimate of $2,500 from Garden & Associates to perform the survey, and the board authorized that work.

All votes on the road budget, plan approvals and contract award were unanimous: Ayes — McCombs, Jahner, Mueller; Nays — none; Abstentions — none.
