The council tabled consideration of an annexation petition involving a property at 921 Southwest Boulevard that currently straddles the Cosmopolis–Aberdeen boundary.
Building staff explained the property owners want to consolidate and sell the parcel but cannot do so while a portion remains in Aberdeen. Staff said the owners submitted an email request and a real-estate agent is working on the matter, but the city attorney and building staff outlined specific procedural steps—filing a formal petition, publishing notice and holding a public hearing—before the council can act. City Attorney Chris Coker offered to provide the proper petition form and process guidance.
Councilman Esparza moved to table the annexation to allow owners to complete the petition and preliminary procedural steps; the council approved the motion by voice vote.
What’s next: staff will provide the owners the petition form and schedule required public notice and hearings as the annexation process proceeds through the county boundary-review steps.
