Board approves contract and lease extensions, continues economic developer agreement through June

On March 16 Caswell County commissioners approved several routine contract and lease items intended to maintain service continuity while staff completes procurement and budgeting work.
The board extended the Meals on Wheels contract with GC Partners (Golden Corral) for FY 2027 at a per‑meal rate of $5.31, a 20‑cent increase from the current $5.11, after staff reported improved delivery capacity and a part‑time driver on board. The extension will maintain continuity while the county issues a competitive RFP next year.
The board also approved modifying a CoSquare lease to allow LifeChoice to occupy Suite 5 on a six‑month trial term at $950 a month, rather than the standard 12‑month lease, so the organization can determine whether the space meets its needs.
Regarding economic development services, commissioners reviewed Kim Bowman’s contract status: Bowman has worked 239 hours to date, leaving a balance of 161 hours under a 400‑hour agreement. After discussing funding sources and expected deliverables, the board voted to continue the contract through June 30 and reassess at that time.
Commissioners asked staff to provide an update on website/marketing work and any prospective economic development grants; those follow‑ups remain outstanding.
