Egg Harbor Township committee adopts ordinance repealing municipal court provision, approves payment of bills

Egg Harbor Township The Egg Harbor Township Committee voted to adopt Ordinance No. 8, repealing chapter 6, article 17 of the township code related to the municipal court to bring the code into alignment with prior amendments. The public hearing on the ordinance drew no public speakers and the mayor closed the public portion before the committee adopted the measure by roll call.

Mr. Friedman presented the ordinance at the public hearing, stating, "Ordinance number 8 is an ordinance repealing chapter 6, article 17, municipal court of the code of the township." After the public portion was closed, a motion to adopt carried on a unanimous roll call.

Why it matters: Repealing the municipal-court provision is an administrative code alignment. Committee members acted on the ordinance during their regular meeting so that the township code reflects changes previously implemented in practice.

In the same meeting the committee approved its consent agenda and acted on Resolution 135, "authorizing payment of all bills," which passed on roll call. The committee also approved the township committee meeting minutes for March 4, 2026, and accepted departmental reports for February 2026.

The meeting record shows motions were made and seconded and that roll-call votes were taken for both the ordinance and the resolution authorizing payment of bills. No amendments to Ordinance No. 8 were proposed during the hearing.

The committee indicated no further action was required at the meeting; the items will be reflected in the official township records. The committee later moved to consider a closed executive session for personnel or legal matters.
