Beaumont ISD expands pre-K partnerships and names Valencia Greenwood director of Bingham Head Start

Beaumont ISD trustees approved measures to expand the district's pre-K partnership model and unanimously appointed Valencia Greenwood as director/principal of Bingham (Bingham) Head Start.
Administrators described a program that places BISD-certified teachers inside partner daycares so students receive district instruction while remaining enrolled and connected to a BISD campus. The district said it will add Creative Learning Center and Tot Town 2 for the 2025–26 school year, with each site expected to serve about 16–20 students who will be included in attendance and accountability counts. "This means our high schoolers are not just studying early childhood—they're stepping into a real BISD pre-K classroom…to earn credentialing while they're still at school," the district presenter said, describing a Child Development Associate (CDA) certification pathway tied to Lamar Institute of Technology.
The board approved the MOUs to continue the existing partnership with World of Color, begin a partnership with Creative Learning Center and add Tot Town 2. Motion to approve the agreements carried 6–0.
In a separate action required by Head Start rules, the board approved the appointment of Valencia Greenwood as director/principal of Bingham Head Start; Greenwood thanked the board, said she is "humbled to serve," and noted her four decades of experience in early childhood education. The administration said the appointment will be submitted to the Office of Head Start for final approval.
Board members praised the partnerships and the district's focus on building a pipeline to early-childhood staff, and no trustee voiced opposition to either the MOUs or the appointment.
