The Canal Winchester Landmarks Commission approved application CA26012 on April 27 to restore historic-style corbels and to add a small lean-to onto the existing garage at 56 West Columbus Street.
Staff explained the application would reintroduce corbels where historic evidence shows they once existed and that the new elements would match the existing corbel dimensions and finish. The applicant, Billy Conrad, said the corbels are currently painted and that he plans to repaint the house a darker green while using a light trim color for the corbels.
The application also includes a 4-by-7 lean-to addition on the north side of the garage to match the garage's existing siding and shingles; staff noted the lean-to is for additional storage and matches the existing materials.
Commissioners supported the restoration as consistent with the home's historic character and voted to approve the application by unanimous roll call.
