Castle Valley IT flags server backup issues; town considers MAS hard drive backup and notes staffing openings

Colleen Thompson, who presented the Information Technology report at the March 18 meeting, said the town experienced server backup issues that required intervention by vendor Computer Wise (Mike Baird). Thompson recommended upgrading the system and suggested a MAS hard drive backup as a more affordable option than replacing the server. Buck reported that the system is backed up offsite with Carbonite.
Administrative announcements: Spring Clean Up is scheduled for April 11, 2026. The town has open positions for a Planning & Land Use Commission (PLUC) clerk and a groundskeeper, and Faylene Roth will retire as PLUC clerk. Thompson said she will follow up on options to monitor the server backup.
Correspondence noted that Frontier submitted a notice of claim for damaged lines near the culvert project; Buck said he is following up but no damage report was available at the meeting. The Utah League of Cities and Towns (ULCT) sent a letter summarizing its legislative activity and a dues assessment notice.
