Joan Stanton Phillips, a Lucas resident, told the council Miller is a 20-year resident who has volunteered with the farmers market and would bring "dedication and a strong sense of community" to the board. The chair also read an email from Catherine Esposito that said Miller attended "90 plus percent" of farmers-market events and played a critical role in the market's success.
A councilmember moved to appoint Miller; the motion was seconded and carried. Miller will serve the remainder of the alternate member number 2 term through Dec. 31, 2026.
The council did not record further questions or opposition during the public comment and appointment process.
