The Lucas City Council approved its consent agenda on Jan. 2, adopting an ordinance that orders the city's general election for May 3, 2025, and a resolution designating the city's official newspaper for 2025.
The council chair presented the items as part of the consent agenda, which also included approval of the December minutes. Councilmember Ebby Fisher moved to approve the consent agenda; the motion was seconded and carried with no recorded opposition.
The election ordinance directs that the May 3, 2025 election be held to elect two city council members for seats 5 and 6, designates polling locations and authorizes the city to give notice as required by law. The chair also noted that candidate filings will run from Jan. 15 through Feb. 14, with applications available at the city secretary's office.
The resolution adopted the city's official newspaper for calendar year 2025, effective Jan. 2 through Dec. 31, 2025. No members of the public spoke on these consent items during the meeting.
The council carried the consent agenda and moved on to other business.
