MCPS celebrates fifth annual intern signing; 13 interns sign conditional teaching contracts

The event, which organizers identified as "Move With Marion," brought together families, program staff and district leaders to highlight the pathway from internship to hiring under MCPS's grow‑your‑own initiative. A presenter at the showcase noted several interns had interned in Marion County for two years and said many are moving from paraprofessional roles into full classroom positions.
Morant named program specialist Dawn Maldonado and HR recruiter Tanya Nunn as leads on the signing effort and thanked families for their support. A district staff member closed the segment by thanking attendees and saying the district is becoming "one of the top county public school districts" to work for.
Organizers framed the signing as part of recruitment and retention efforts designed to expand the local teacher pipeline; no formal motions or votes were recorded during this portion of the superintendent showcase.
