Commission: proposed child support regulations filed; will take effect Aug. 1, 2026

The State of Connecticut Commission for Child Support Guidelines reported at its April 2 meeting that proposed updates to the child support regulations have been filed with the Secretary of the State and will become effective Aug. 1, 2026.
Attorney Graham Schaeffer said the Reg Review Committee approved the proposed regulations with technical corrections and that he filed the corrected version with the Secretary of the State’s office. "Since then, the secretary of the state's office has accepted the filing, and so we are done with the reg. It'll become effective 08/01/2026," Schaeffer said.
Commission members said there were no substantive questions about the filing at the review hearing. Schaeffer said he had circulated a draft of the preamble and other sections to the Commission and is coordinating final edits so the written materials can be assembled with the finalized regulations.
The Commission did not take any further formal votes during the meeting on the regulations; Schaeffer described the filing and effective date as the current status. The panel scheduled a follow-up on the preamble and remaining drafting work at its next meeting on May 7, 2026.
