PSA asks Floyd County for support on $690,000 water-well grant after well failure

"We desperately need a new water well somewhere in town," the PSA representative said, describing a failing pump and a well producing roughly 13 gallons a day. The representative said the town joined the PSA on the grant application and asked the county for a letter of support to strengthen the application.
Staff explained that water projects carry additional requirements (larger casing, hookup line costs of $50'$100 per foot) and that grants are competitive. The PSA asked for assistance preparing a template letter of support and requested the county's help submitting or endorsing the application should the board choose to do so.
Supervisors agreed to provide assistance in drafting a letter of support and to coordinate with the town and PSA; staff noted that the county and town may each be applying for related water grants and that agencies sometimes have differing application deadlines and priorities.
The PSA representative said the agency would reapply in future years if not funded this round and would keep the board updated on the grant status.
