City staff presented the proposed fiscal year 2025–26 budget and the Lucas City Council set a special meeting for Monday, Aug. 25, at 6:35 p.m. to adopt an ordinance approving the budget.
“This budget was prepared using the de minimis tax rate,” said Miss Exum, who told council the general fund showed excess revenue over expenses of $245,503 and that water and debt-service funds were balanced. Staff previously discussed the proposal at the July 17 workshop and on Aug. 7.
The council opened the public hearing and, after hearing no speakers, closed it at 7:35 p.m. A motion to set Aug. 25 as the adoption date passed unanimously by voice vote.
Council members thanked staff for the quick turnarounds and updates incorporated since the workshops; no substantive public testimony was made during the hearing.
The scheduled adoption will take place immediately following the Lucas Fire Control, Prevention and EMS District meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m.
