Board applauds student quartet, honors community service and names new assistant principals

The Sumner School District Board of Directors opened its meeting with a performance by the Bonney Lake High School quartet and several recognitions.
Board members praised the musical performance, then recognized Merrilee Hill Anderson with a certificate from Pierce County Human Services for her community service during December flooding. A longtime board member, Mike Pavlik, was acknowledged in the audience and thanked for his service to the district.
Principals Lisa Brozovich (Maple Lawn Elementary) and Sarah Thompson (Donald Iseman Elementary) introduced promoted assistant principals Hailey Hoskins and Dani (Annie) Pfeil, respectively. Hoskins thanked the board and said she is "grateful to be trusted with this hard work" and excited to continue serving students. Pfeil also expressed gratitude and readiness to begin her new role. Board members noted other recognitions, including an OSPI designation as one of the state's top 25 districts and praise for district leaders such as Kelly Dinh.
