The Boulder City Business License Liquor Board on Jan. 22 approved a special-event gambling permit allowing the Boulder City Hospital Foundation to hold a raffle from Feb. 1 through Feb. 7, with the prize to be drawn at the foundation’s Heart of the Community Gala on Feb. 7, staff said.
Brady Press, a staff member who presented the application, told the board the foundation plans to sell tickets at public locations such as Boulder Dam Credit Union and that prizes are valued at around $500. “They’re having an event, the Heart of the Community Gala, and they’re wishing to conduct a raffle from February 1 to February 7, with the prize being drawn on the seventh at the gala,” Press said. Press said all proceeds from the raffle will go toward operating Boulder City Hospital.
Press told the board the applicant meets the criteria for a permit in the Boulder City Code and recommended approval. The Chair asked whether any board members had questions; none were raised. A board member moved to approve the permit and the Chair called for the ayes. The motion was approved unanimously.
The board also approved the minutes of its Oct. 22, 2025 meeting earlier on the agenda. No public comments were received during either public comment period and the board adjourned after approving the permit.
No implementation conditions, reporting requirements or additional restrictions on the raffle were discussed in the meeting record.
