At its regular meeting the Richland School Board approved the selection of Concertis to lead the district’s long‑term facilities planning process following an RFQ and interviews with five firms. Mr. Gosney (speaker S4), who led the vendor presentation, said the selection team evaluated experience, cost, fit for the district, community input processes and the firm’s plan for public engagement. “Concertis gave an hour by hour breakdown of how they would run the process and how many community meetings they would hold,” Gosney said.
Board member S3 moved to proceed with Concertis; another board member seconded the motion and the board voted to approve the recommendation. Trustees noted Concertis’s detailed process and favorable pricing relative to services provided; staff said the vendor would help lead a community‑engaged strategic planning process that could support a potential capital levy or bond in the future.
The board also heard first reading of Policy 4215 (presented by Mr. Gosney). A board member moved and the trustees moved the policy to official first reading. During review the board flagged a typographical error in the draft and questioned a citation that read “Federal Drug Administration.” Staff agreed to correct the language and confirm whether the intended reference was the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or another authority.
The consent agenda was moved and approved without items pulled. The board also discussed adding a standing, non‑decisional "Board discussion" item to future agendas to surface priorities and follow‑up topics publicly.
Next steps: staff will finalize the vendor contract and return with a schedule for community engagement and deliverables; staff will update Policy 4215 wording and circulate corrections to trustees.
