Travis Unified board elects officers for 2026, votes to move meetings to Wednesdays

Matthew Badillo was re-elected president of the Travis Unified School District Governing Board at the board’s annual organizational meeting on Dec. 18, the board confirmed, and members also selected Brenda as vice president and Manuela as clerk.
The board followed state procedure for its annual organizational meeting (Education Code section 35143) and voted to elect officers who will serve immediately through December 2026. Will Wade nominated Badillo to continue as president; the motion carried by voice vote. Brenda accepted the nomination for vice president, and Manuela accepted the clerk position.
In related action the board debated and then approved a change to the regular-meeting calendar. Trustees discussed shifting meetings away from Tuesdays to avoid conflicts with city council 2x2 meetings; district staff said moving meetings would not create an operational hardship but noted the 72-hour posting requirements and the need for continued coordination with city officials. The board voted to schedule meetings on Wednesdays for the August–June 2026–27 cycle.
Board members said the officer elections and the calendar decision are intended to improve coordination with municipal partners and ensure steady governance during a busy implementation year for capital projects and safety upgrades.
The board also appointed its representatives to regional bodies: Will will continue as the district representative to the Solano County School Boards Association and Manuela will represent Travis Unified to the Travis Regional Armed Forces Committee.
The board adjourned the organizational portion of the meeting and continued into the rest of the agenda, including consent items and departmental briefings.
