South Whidbey board approves several policy updates and labor paperwork in single vote session

At its business meeting the South Whidbey School District board approved a package of policy updates and routine administrative items that the board had previewed in workshop sessions.
Memoranda approved included updates to policy 3231 (student records), policy 3410 (student health), policy 3412 (automated external defibrillators and student welfare) and policy 3413 (student immunization and life‑threatening conditions). The superintendent and staff told trustees nursing and other relevant staff had reviewed the health and safety updates before the meeting.
The board also approved a standard request to the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction for a 180‑day waiver to avoid extending the school year following weather or emergency closures, and it formally approved PSC letters of agreement that were part of collective-bargaining housekeeping.
Student representatives gave advisory votes on each memorandum. Each item passed by voice vote; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the public record. Board discussion on these items was limited, and presenters said the changes reflected prior workshop deliberations rather than new policy revisions.
The board did not return any of the memoranda for further study.
