Finance introduces Power BI dashboard to make city finances more accessible; will update monthly

At the Budget and Finance Committee meeting, finance staff introduced a new Power BI dashboard intended to increase transparency and make large financial reports easier for board members and residents to use.
"We rolled out a brand new BPHAC dashboard," Miss Holden said, adding the tool is interactive and available now. "Next month ... I'm trying to be very conscious of time tonight I want to do a full presentation of how to use it, what information's in there."
Holden said the dashboard will include revenue details, property tax and utility tax collection rates and other financial metrics tied to the Financial Excellence Award the city received. She told members the dashboard will be posted on the city's finance web page and updated monthly so the board sees the previous month's figures before each meeting.
Committee members praised the move as an improvement over 70-page static reports. Holden acknowledged there may be initial "kinks" to resolve but said staff will refine the dashboard and provide a fuller demonstration at the next meeting.
The committee did not take formal action on the dashboard during the meeting; staff said they will continue training and publicize the dashboard when it is finalized.
