Ellis County renews election task software, leases ADA vote-marking machines to local districts

The Ellis County Commissioners Court unanimously approved three elections-related items March 17: leases of ADA-compliant vote-marking devices for Mountain Peak Special Utility District (April 25, 2026) and Mansfield ISD (May 2, 2026), and a renewal of ElectTask software for the elections office for $5,269.
Elections Administrator Jana Onion said leasing the ADA devices ensures compliance with the election code when outside entities hold their own elections. "This is our standard lease agreement... having an ADA compliant machine out there will help them do that," Onion said. Onion also noted her office has used ElectTask since 2023 to plan and manage election tasks and that funds were already budgeted for the renewal. Legal review of the vendor contract was completed, she said.
Commissioners voted unanimously to approve both leases and the software renewal.
