The Ellis County Commissioners Court approved additional renovation work to the Courts and Administration Building to accommodate jury processes and authorized payment of remaining retainage to Christman Company.
County staff said the project requires $80,000 in additional renovation work and that retainage not to exceed $30,000 remains due; both amounts will be paid from the court facility fee fund, not the county general fund. A staff speaker said there is roughly $390,000 budgeted in that account and that the court facility fee can only be used for courthouse construction, renovation or improvement.
Commissioner Grayson moved approval of the item and Commissioner Ponder seconded; the court voted unanimously to approve the expenditures. County officials said they expected this to be the final change order related to the jury‑process accommodations.
