The Murfreesboro Golf Commission approved plans for a 40th-anniversary celebration at Old Fort and agreed to set a one-day resident rate of $40 on Oct. 12.
A commissioner described a historical display assembled by Jim Bjork with plans and old scorecards and suggested small activities and giveaways for the public. Commissioners discussed candidate dates (Oct. 4, Oct. 5 or Oct. 12) and marketing approaches, including resident ID checks for discounted tee times and the possibility of food trucks and on-site promotions.
The commission voted to set Oct. 12 as the resident $40 day; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. Commissioners noted the event is intended for branding and to draw people to the course, and staff will work with marketing to manage tee-time blocks and ID checks.
