Emery County plans trail‑signage crew and grant partnerships to improve wayfinding

Under the proposal, Emery County would apply for grant money to hire and equip a crew; Sanpete County has pledged an $8,000 supplies match, and staff said an RTP grant could fund a side‑by‑side vehicle. The crew would be housed administratively with the travel office and dispatched by the Forest Service as needed.
Staff also reviewed open grant work: closing out a cooperative marketing grant used for event marketing in 2025, finalizing a map grant to print county trail maps (state outdoor office funding), and purchasing approved trails equipment (jackhammer, generator, new tracks and culverts) to be reimbursed through an existing grant.
Board members flagged time constraints and budget timing but generally supported seeking the partnership and said detailed funding amounts and the proposal would come back for a vote next month.
No vote occurred at the working meeting; staff said the grant details and any purchases will return to a regular agenda for formal approval.
