Hawkins County board OKs $4.46 million in roofing contracts, central office repairs and CTE equipment

The board also approved a quote from Coreo Roofing and Construction totaling $98,927.06 to repair the child nutrition/technology roof at the central office; administrators said the authority to use a cooperative contract (TIPS) applied because the work qualified as repair rather than new construction, allowing a faster response to prevent further damage.
Separately, the board approved a CTE purchase of welding booths (12 4-by-4 booths with adjustable fixtures and veil curtains) for approximately $18,760 plus freight, funded from CTE funds.
Board members emphasized the need to move on repairs quickly to prevent further damage and to support career and technical education equipment needs. No roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript for these voice votes.
