Board names Hawkins County Special Education Building for Elva J. Kearney Davis

The presenter said Davis “devoted her life to the field of education” and emphasized her role in building sustainable programs for students with disabilities.
The board moved and seconded the naming; the motion carried by voice vote with no opposition recorded. The chair noted that, if a new facility is built to house the department in future, the name would transfer with the department.
