The Collin County Commissioners Court approved a $500,000 administrative transfer to support pre- and post-election operations, Elections Administrator Caleb Breaux said.
Breaux said the county maintains a 103.3 account established under the Texas Election Code for contract election funds. He told the court the transfer is an accounting move to keep funds encumbered for upcoming joint elections in the appropriate election-specific line item rather than the general fund. "It's moving it from a general bucket to a specific line item," Breaux said.
A court member asked the presenter to confirm the transfer merely reallocates funds already encumbered for elections; Breaux confirmed. The court then voted to approve the transfer by a 5-0 voice vote.
Breaux said the office still has several elections to administer before the next budget year and that the transfer is intended to ensure adequate funding through those contests. No amendments or additional conditions were attached to the approval.
