Collin County gives green light to redesigned county website, targets early April launch

Derek Jackson, government information coordinator, walked commissioners through desktop, mobile and tablet mockups and said the redesign highlights top-requested items, county news, and an events calendar.
Tim Miller of IT described mobile and tablet layouts and said the project provides greater flexibility for real-time updates. Principal designer Adela Ruiz was introduced and thanked for her work.
Jackson and Miller said staff are working with a vendor and are targeting the week of April 6 for the site to go live, contingent on final vendor steps and internal readiness. Jackson said he would not issue a broad staff notice until about 24 hours before the flip to ensure timing was firm.
Commissioners praised the modernized look. "You've got the green light to move forward from us," Judge Hill told the presenters.
What happens next: IT and communications staff will complete final vendor tasks, prepare internal notifications and launch the new site; staff expects to continue iterative improvements after launch.
