Cadets and squadron commander ask Collin County to back Civil Air Patrol–Collin College partnership

Cadet Master Sergeant Muns described personal development from CAP participation, saying the program taught discipline, leadership and teamwork and that an encampment was a “big turning point” in building confidence. "Civil Air Patrol showed me that if I set my mind to a goal, I can achieve it," Muns said.
Daksha Sri Srinivasan, cadet captain and cadet commander, told the court the squadron is one of the nation’s largest and fastest-growing, and said the squadron seeks in-kind partnerships — meeting space and classroom access — that would expand access for local youth. Logan Vasquez noted CAP’s congressional charter and national support structure and said local squadrons commonly rely on community partners for facilities.
Captain Jim Reeves, squadron commander, said the McKinney squadron was chartered in Collin County in 1969 and described recent outreach to Collin College leadership and trustees. Reeves asked the court to sign a letter encouraging Collin College to host the McKinney Thunderbolt Composite Squadron. "We're not asking the County for any direct funding. We're asking for your voice," Reeves said.
The court thanked the speakers and did not take formal action on the request at the meeting; Judge Hill indicated staff could prepare a letter of support if the court consensed to provide it.
What happens next: the court signaled general support and the speakers were invited to continue discussions with Collin College and county staff; no county funding request was made at this time.
