Resident urges quick appointments to Farmersville Emergency Services District board

Richard Hill, a Farmersville resident, told the court he had found a letter indicating Farmersville submitted a notice canceling fire protection and asked the county to expedite appointments to the Emergency Services District (ESD) board. Hill said petitioners had collected more than 300 signatures and requested that the court select independent board members who will prioritize the citizens who will pay for and receive ESD services.
Hill asked the court to contact Farmersville officials to encourage them to submit a revised letter maintaining coverage until the ESD board is seated. Mr. Kim replied that staff anticipated bringing appointments to court as early as Monday, February 9, or at the latest February 16. Judge Hillcombister said the court and its partners were working to ensure there would be no geographic or chronological gap in fire coverage.
There was no formal action on the item because it was not on the agenda, but staff indicated appointments could be scheduled at one of the next two meetings.
